Get instant access to 1500 CDs with the Philips Streamium Wireless Music System

IFA 2006, Berlin, Germany, Aug 31, 2006 - Consumers have discovered the convenience of digital music, enjoying their music wherever they want, whenever they want it and the new Philips Streamium Wireless Music System WACS7000 and Wireless Music Station WAK3300 ensure just that – allowing music lovers to enjoy their CD collection in any room.

Succeeding the award-winning WACS700, Philips’ new WACS7000 connects to up to five Wireless Music Stations, fully synchronized for separate or combined use. The WACS7000 offers even more music, with a high capacity 80 GB hard disk storing up to 1500 CDs, a LCD screen with 40% more sharpness to display track information, and connection to Philips GoGear jukeboxes and other USB music devices.

Connectivity between Stations is cable free, with the Philips Streamium Wireless Music System creating highly personalized, best-in-class audio performances, with intuitive features and usability.

Enjoy your music in your home – in any room anytime
While most people still enjoy their music collections on a ‘main’ system in their living rooms?, ownership of multiple devices, such as portable music players, DVD systems and PCs has spread music collections throughout the home.

Increasingly, consumers are listening to music on their home PCs, where most digital audio content is stored. But consumers also want the freedom to enjoy their music on a single system that works everywhere throughout the home – which is where the Philips Streamium Wireless Music System comes in.

Through the Wi-FI? and UPnP? technology standards, consumers are given instant and easy access to their CD libraries at the simple touch of a button, with the WACS7000 satisfying the entire household by managing up to five independent streams of content at once.

The device allows users to broadcast the same track to each room simultaneously for listening throughout the home or move from room to room throughout the home with the music following them – simplicity of use with no need for a PC.

Innovation and simplicity in a stylish design
Philips’ new Streamium Wireless Music System provides a highly intuitive and easy experience. Ready out-of-the-box, users need to simply plug in the main unit and additional stations to mains power, and the system will automatically search and connect to other devices. The WACS7000 also features an Ethernet PC connection enabling consumers to backup the system’s hard disk, upgrade features or download existing tracks from a PC.

Wake up with the WAK3300 Wireless Music Station
Philips is also introducing the Streamium Wireless Music Station WAK3300, enabling users to wake up to their favorite music, with unlimited connectivity between the Music Station and the Music Center.

By wirelessly streaming music from a Philips Streamium Wireless Music Center or even a Wi-Fi-enabled home PC, WAK3300 listeners can access their entire music catalogue, as well as search by artist, album and playlist.

As a member of Philips’ family of Streamium Wireless Music System, the WAK3300 allows listeners to make full use of WACS features, including ‘My Room, My Music’ and ‘Music Follow Me’ playback.

The WAK3300 Wireless Music Station also has built in memory to hold seven songs of its own, in case users want to wake up to their favorite music when traveling away from home. In addition, there is no compromise in sound quality, despite its compact size, with nanotechnology-enhanced speakers as standard.

The WACS7000 and WAK3300 will both be available from November 2006. Journalists are advised to contact their local Philips press office for details of local pricing and availability.
